Evolany’s 4th annual Sports Day!

Who do you think will win? 

For the last 4 years, Evolany has hosted a Sports Day for our staff when the autumn weather becomes a bit cooler. We’ve held previous Sports Days in Shin-Yokohama, but this years Sports Day was a real treat, as we held it at Gold Crest Stadium in Kamakura, where Kamakura International FC, a Kanagawa Division 1 soccer club plays!

Even better, this year’s Sports Day was coincidentally held on October 31st, giving teams the perfect excuse to dress up and compete! Winning is fun, but winning in costume is even better :)

We broke off into 4 teams: Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow. 

The Pink team coordinated a perfect “Team Cute” look, complete with matching My Melo hats. Team Blue had custom shirts, with personalized 16-bit character avatars, printed for each member. Team Green was a hodge-podge of Yoshi’s and a turtle tossed in for good measure, while team Yellow, with their athletic prowess and size advantage – clearly the favorites to win! – dazzled us all by transforming into Minions.

After a traditional Radio Taiso warmup, everybody put their game faces on and got to work. There were a total of 10, with the 80m dash, dodgeball, shippo-tori, baton relay, and the final event: tug-of-war, being the high-scoring prestige events that every team tried extra hard to win. 

In the end, after a grueling tug of war between Team Yellow and Team Blue, Team Blue won by a landslide having dominated 3 of the prestige events, and were awarded Amazon gift cards for their success. For his efforts, Ray (Team Blue) was awarded MVP, earning himself an even bigger Amazon gift card.


After the day was done everybody headed back to the office for the awards ceremony and customary pizza, sushi, and Indian curry.
